Little Piggy

According to the scale we have in our home, our Toku bug is already about 11 POUNDS! Holy guacamole! He's only a few days over 5 weeks old! My back has been starting to ache from carrying and rocking him. My Grandma asked me if he's been drinking cream! Maybe it's all the chocolate/ice cream/cookies/cakes that I've been consuming with gusto. Ever since Grant was born, I can't get enough sweets! In fact, I can't get enough FOOD! It seems like I'm ALWAYS hungry!

We love our chunky dude. He is the best! Here's a pic of him striking a very handsome pose:

Last night Jeff and I looked over at him in his bouncer, and his arms were outstretched like this! He kept them there for a few minutes after we took this picture, and we wondered how long they were like this before we took it! Perhaps he was dreaming of flying?

I'm wasn't positive as to how Jeff came up with the term "merman" for this dance. He told me later that Grant's diaper flaps reminded him of mermaid fins... Haha!

On the Bright Side

Happy things from the past week:

Jeff and I took turns going to the temple while the other watched Grant. It was such a good session for me! It was so nice to go back after not going for the previous 5 weeks.


These little gems that I made! What are they, you say? They are Wee Wee Wigwams, simple contraptions that prevent you from being doused by a golden fountain during diaper changes! I was saved just last night in the "wee" hours of the morning. Tried and true!


We drove up Alpine Loop and stopped to walk around Cascade Springs. LOVED the gorgeous fall colors and fresh mountain air!

We got this infant carrier at a garage sale two summers ago for $5. It works great! And Jeff got another job! He will be working at the BYU carpenter shop. Yay!

The outfit Jeff dressed Grant in...very punkster-ish, except for the cute animal print! Nice.

We went on a lovely Sunday walk and used Grant's stroller for the first time! He loved the ride and dozed the whole way.

We walked up to the temple. Exactly one month previously we did the same walk, I was 38 weeks and 4 days pregnant (and one day away from birthing a child), and I just about perished from the effort of it all. This time, it was so easy breezy! I love that I can move around, run, jump, and play like I used to...not having to kill my back and hold up my heavy belly in the process! Only 4 more pounds to lose until I'm back to pre-pregnancy weight! Yahoo!

Grant is now 1 month and 2 days old! I can't believe so much time has gone by since he's been born. He is getting to be so big! Jeff knows just how to bring a smile to his son's face! (Please note his happy Asian eyes. Also note his cute chubby chests! Ha ha!)

I love my little family so much! I'm so grateful I get to keep them forever.

A Lovely Morning

This morning I fed Grant his second breakfast, burped him, and changed his diaper. He had fallen fast asleep, so I swaddled him up all cozy and scooped him up to lay him back down in his crib. As I held him in my arms, it felt so natural. It was like he had always had a spot in my arms, or at least he had always been meant to be cradled in them. To be loved in them. To forevermore be cuddled and hugged in them.

I was washed over with such a motherly feeling. I am a mom. This angel little boy is mine, and he will be mine forever. It's an amazing thing. It's the greatest thing. It's what life is all about: families.

Sometimes when I look into my son's eyes, shaded from the deepest to lightest of blues, I get overwhelmed with the same feeling I have when I look into his daddy's eyes: that I am gazing into the depths of eternity.

Preview

I don't have the energy to do a full-blown post right now, but just wanted to show off our handsome little guy! Happy two weeks of life on Earth, Grant! It's been two weeks of learning, growing, and lots and lots of loving.

He's starting to get a double chin! Yeah, baby!

This was filmed two nights ago. Three nights ago, when Grant was 11 days old, we put him on the bed to do tummy time. With the bed at a slight incline because of Jeff's weight, lo and behold, Grant rolled onto his back THREE times! Wowzers! We've got a super baby!
