In April, my Gran'ma Gushiken came to visit us here in Utah!
It was soooo good to have her back on the Mainland and to spend some
time with her. Grant met her for the first time, and he LOVES her!
My Uncle Richard is a coach for the University of Hawaii softball team, and we hosted a dinner at my parents' house for all of them. It was fun to have them over, and a lot of work! We made a TON of Korean bulgogi and I made chocolate-covered strawberries. It was a yummy feast!
Most of the girls had never roasted starbursts over a fire. They really enjoyed it! And they really enjoyed the fire itself...it was so cold when they came! It even snowed, and these Hawaiian girls were so excited!
Grant loved playing with Gran'ma!
Jeff and I took Gran'ma around BYU campus for a bit. She made a new friend at the dinosaur museum!
Grant doesn't look the least bit scared that a dinosaur is about to eat him.
We got to see the softball team play against BYU! They won one game and lost the other. We were rooting for both teams!
Grant even got to meet Cosmo! He looks so delighted, don't you think?
We drove down to Toquerville so Gran'ma could see how neat Jojo's place is so she will want to come visit more often. ;) One of the days we were there we hiked a bit in Zion's. Gran'ma sure was a trooper to come along!
Funny story about this picture...there were so many squirrels along the trail! They weren't scared of humans at all and would run right under your feet. Gran'ma would scream and jump every time one popped up! We all thought it was hilarious, and we sure are glad she didn't hurt herself or have a heart attack!
On the last night of Gran'ma's stay, we went out to eat at Goodwood! She spoiled us waaaay too much!
Along with all of the fun activities we did with Gran'ma, Derrick and I got to interview her. It was so neat to hear some of her stories and to learn more about her and my ancestry. She truly is such an amazing woman who is full of compassion, conviction, generosity, love, and faith. I learned so much more about what kind of person I really want to be...a person more like her. I respect, honor, and love her so much, and am so grateful that she is my grandma! Thank you so much for visiting! We love you!

So fun! These pictures make me extra sad that I wasn't there to visit. But glad you had a fun time!
We need to print these pictures and send them to her...especially the one with the squirrel!
